The Board of Trustees of the Gemstones Miners and Marketers Association of Nigeria (GMMAN) has approved the appointment of Engr Adeniran Ajibade as the new National Coordinator of the GMMAN while Prof. Adesoji Adesugba now moves to be a member of the Board of Trustees of the Association
Engr Niran Ajibade is a Geoscientist with professional training in Mining, Metallurgical, Materials Engineering and Gemmology. He worked for 30 years in the Mines Department of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development during which he acquired comprehensive knowledge and experience in the policy, regulatory and operational aspects of the Nigerian Mining Industry.
He served as the Secretary to the Presidential Committee on the Implementation of the Bitumen Project; led the World bank consultants that conducted baseline studies on the Nigerian Gemstones Industry and other subsectors of the Nigerian Mining Industry, He was a prominent member of the team that midwifed the reforms that transformed the Nigerian mining sector to an attractive destination for global investors.
He was also a pioneering member of staff of the Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining Department that formulated federal policies and programs for organising, supporting and promoting indigenous miners.
On his voluntary retirement from the Federal Civil Service, he worked as
General Manager (Commercial) with Erin Mineral Resources Ltd, an Australian-Nigerian gold exploration company. Engr Ajibade is now the Managing Director of Architype Industries Ltd, a company that operates four gemstone mines and provides consultancy services in the minerals and metals industries.
He is currently on the team of technical experts consulting for the World Bank Mindiver Project on the Design and Implementation of a Strategy for the Development of Nigerian Gemstones and Jewellery Industry.
Engr Niran Ajibade will bring on board his vast experience towards promoting the objectives of GMMAN.
The Chairman of the Gemstones Miners and Marketers Association of Nigeria (GMMAN) had in a letter signed by its Chairman , Prince Adetokunbo Kayode(SAN) convened Engineer Ajibade’s appointment.
The letter reads as follows:
“I am pleased to inform you that the Board of Trustees of GMMAN has approved your nomination as the National Coordinator of the association.
“The board recognizes your vast experience and immense contribution towards the development of the gemstones and mining industry in Nigeria, and urge you to bring your immense capacity to bear in coordinating the activities of the association.
“Your nomination will be for an initial period of 3 years and is to commence with immediate effect. We expect this appointment to be ractified at the 2021 Annual General Meeting.
“I congratulate you on this nomination and wish you a successful tenure”, the letter read.
