All Eyes on Ibadan as Nigeria’s Gemstone Industry Gathers for NGJE 2025

Stones and exhibitors

The city of Ibadan is set to sparkle like never before as the Nigerian Gem and Jewelry Exhibition (NGJE) returns — bigger, bolder, and more impactful. From August 25th to 27th, 2025, the International Conference Centre at the University of Ibadan will transform into a hub of beauty, business, and innovation as players from across the gemstone and jewelry value chain converge for the highly anticipated event.

Organized by the Gemstones Miners and Marketers Association of Nigeria (GMMAN), NGJE 2025 is not just another trade fair — it’s a celebration of Nigeria’s rich mineral heritage and a bold step toward building a globally competitive gemstone industry.

What to Expect at NGJE 2025

From raw, uncut treasures to dazzling finished jewelry, NGJE offers something for everyone — miners, lapidaries, jewelers, fashion designers, exporters, students, and gemstone enthusiasts.

Some of the key attractions include:

  • Gemstone Exhibitions: Discover Nigeria’s diverse range of colored gemstones — from fiery garnets to radiant aquamarines.
  • Live Demonstrations: Watch skilled artisans transform rough stones into polished jewels right before your eyes.
  • Panel Discussions: Learn from industry experts as they tackle big questions around value addition, sustainable mining, global market access, and government policy.
  • Women & Youth Empowerment Sessions: Stories, training, and tools for those using gemstones to change their lives.
  • New This Year: A Gemstone Fashion Runway where local designers pair handcrafted jewelry with couture fashion.

According to GMMAN, this year’s edition will also introduce Virtual Reality Experiences, allowing visitors to explore gemstone mining communities and follow the mine-to-market journey without leaving the venue.

Why It Matters

Nigeria is sitting on billions of dollars’ worth of untapped gemstone resources, yet most are exported in raw form. Events like NGJE are critical to driving local value addition, promoting exports, and empowering the thousands of Nigerians — especially in rural areas — who depend on small-scale mining and lapidary work.

“NGJE 2025 is more than a showcase; it’s a movement to transform Nigeria’s gemstone industry into a globally respected brand,” said a GMMAN spokesperson. “We’re excited to host this year’s edition in Ibadan, a city rich in history and academic excellence.”
