GMMAN is a supporting association of Nigeria Mining Week 2026, and encourages members across the gemstone and jewellery value chain to take part. The conference and expo is organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria in partnership with PwC, VUKA Group and Mining Review Africa, with the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development as official host. It runs at the Abuja Continental Hotel from 13 to 14 October, with a pre-conference day on 12 October.
Organisers describe the 2026 programme as a continuation of Nigeria’s commitment to accelerate mineral beneficiation, strengthen midstream capability and position the country as a reliable supplier of strategic minerals. Gemstones sit on the programme alongside lithium, gold, iron ore, rare earths, quarrying and industrial minerals.
Six content pillars
- Exploration and geological data. Better geological data, modern mapping standards, transparent licensing and exploration strategies that attract junior miners and global investors.
- Financing and investment. Clarifying investor requirements, supporting project preparation, and addressing risk, ESG and title security.
- Industrialisation. The flagship focus of 2026, on processing, refining and manufacturing capacity, with the aim that no mineral leaves Nigeria unprocessed.
- Infrastructure and power integration. Reliable power, transport corridors, logistics digitalisation and synchronised infrastructure timelines.
- ESG, transparency and community development. Traceability, responsible sourcing, formalisation of artisanal and small-scale mining, gender inclusion and community agreements.
- International and regional collaboration. Lessons and expertise from across Africa and global mining nations.
Forums and side events
A new Critical Minerals Forum will address the minerals needed for the global energy transition and how Nigeria can attract investment, build refining capacity and secure offtake agreements, drawing on lessons from Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Returning side events include the Gold Forum, the Steel and Industrial Minerals Forum, the Women in Extractive Industries Forum, the CEO Roundtable, and the Deal Room project showcase.

The event is expected to gather attendees from more than 20 countries, including over 3,000 mining professionals, around 150 sponsors and exhibitors, some 180 mining operators and more than 150 expert speakers and VIPs. International pavilions are expected from the United Kingdom, European Union, United States, China, United Arab Emirates, Canada, South Africa and India.
